Frankie June

Frankie June was born Jennifer Mitchell in the picturesque sea-side village of Mystic, Connecticut. Homeschooled all the way to high school graduation and a member of an extremely religious, conservative community upon her family's move to Indiana, her childhood was sheltered, lonely and cut off from most mainstream music and culture. Her love for music began when she watched Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz as a preschooler and was then fostered with a regimented schedule of classical piano lessons, vocal training, and ballet class. During her summer break after a tumultuous freshman year studying opera (and how to act like you’ve been to a party before) at Ball State University, Frankie discovered an art form that she would later credit with teaching her what art really is: acting. Rather than perfectly executing notes on a page, she got to reach into the depths of her soul, take the pain, confusion, and whatever the fuck else was there, and make it into something worthwhile. So, she hatched a perfect plan to escape from Indiana… become a movie star! While Frankie did have some initial success as an actor and was able to make the transition to LA, a few years and thousands of auditions later, a depressed Frankie realized she had made a terrible mistake: wasting years of her life chasing “career success” rather than artistic fulfillment. Her confidence was a zero, and she felt like she’d used up any shot she had. So, she started doing what she did when she was a lonely kid that didn’t know being in the entertainment industry was even a real job: creating for the sake of it.

A year and an original EP later, Frankie booked the role of Oaklyn in American Primeval, an upcoming Netflix limited series from acclaimed director Peter Berg (Painkiller, Friday Night Lights), and writer Mark L. Smith (The Revenant).

Frankie started releasing music in December 2023, a few months after she concluded filming. Her music combines old school vocal stylings and melody writing with modern production and lyrical themes. She hopes her songs bring you solace on a rough day, and that her story inspires you to do whatever it is you love – for no reason at all.
